Domestic

Domestic is one of those ideas that urged me to be expressed and developed into a series of works but which stood compacted from 2013 up till 2019 in one single object - napkin and spoon shown in the images right below. And although in 2019 I was inspired to develop a few wearable objects after it, Domestic continues to be an open theme, projecting the ongoing transformation I experience in my relationship with the idea of (...) routine being a certain performance or rehearsal of the mind, an opportunity to look at things ever differently and to reconcile the hard task split between permanence and transition.*

Domestic also ironically entitles that which cannot be domesticated.

Before the sun

The strange languor in the center of her consciousness, those vaporous ideas which kept appearing as though independently of her will, were mere tentative fragments of her own presence, looming against the nothingness of a sleep not yet cold—a sleep still powerful enough to return and take her in its arms.*

During sleep the brain is active, learning and remembering, interpreting and organizing random signals -dreams- and consolidating that of greatest emotional resonance, most salient and worthy of remembering.
It is surprising how existence can unfold within the mind as an abundant well of mystery. With its own vocabulary 'emanates the shadowy depths beneath.'*

Before the sun is a proposal that frames a very particular state of mind -'the realm of the invisible.'* - to unveil emotional memories.

About and in between

It is difficult to define a sentence in which its meaning relies precisely in the absence of words. Understanding it departs rather from presupposing it. So it is with the work that appropriates that sentence to find place and meaning in between the lines; in the absence of a presence only imagined, that deludes our reasoning with tangible solidity.
Intuition blends with a subjective reality generating a feeling of uncertainty, and thus making us wish to find a niche where our understanding can reside.
Words can’t fill in the blank space between A and B. For there is imagination agglutinating  experiences and creating substance for individual perception. The place where senses meet is also where reason cleaves, and new perspectives become visible.

About and in between defines a path between the before and the after, between a place and being there.

Between A and B time seems to slowdown and intensify the sense of space, around and within us.
